The Translation Team under the Finance Department of the Corporate Affairs Division is responsible for providing English and Chinese editorial support and in-house translation service for corporate publications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position reports to a Senior Manager of the Translation Team, as part of the team’s responsibilities for translating various kinds of documents, such as press releases, consultation papers, circulars to the financial industry, supporting evidence for prosecution and disciplinary action, and submissions to the Legislative Council, from English to Chinese and vice versa.
The ideal candidate should hold a university degree, preferably in translation or language studies, and have at least three years of solid experience specific to the translation of a variety of legal and financial documents, including those that are used in court proceedings or for the performance of regulatory functions. Good understanding of the Hong Kong securities and futures markets and various financial products, and previous employment with the Hong Kong Government or a regulatory body will be a definite advantage.
You should be meticulous, organised and a good team player with strong communication skills. You must have an excellent command of English and Chinese, and be proficient in common PC applications and Chinese word processing. The successful candidate is expected to be able to learn and master the necessary skills within a short timeframe, and work under pressure professionally and efficiently.
