A high-quality lawyer to join the SFC as a Senior Director to assist the Executive Director - Legal Services to manage the Legal Services Division. This is an excellent opportunity to join the statutory body which regulates and promotes the development of the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong.
Reporting to the Executive Director - Legal Services, the candidate will be required to discharge the responsibilities and meet the requirements set out below:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To oversee the conduct of civil and criminal litigation involving the SFC by supervising the Litigation Team to ensure consistency and maintenance of high standards across different teams.
- To oversee the Advisory Team to provide advice and assistance to other divisions on a wide range of legal issues that affect the SFC as a statutory body and the exercise of its statutory functions.
- To provide leadership, guidance and on-going training to staff of the Legal Services Division.
- To act as a decision-maker on appropriate cases and to participate in the management of the Legal Services Division.
You are expected to participate in high level strategic decision-making in major policy issues and decisions affecting the Legal Services Division. You will also be expected to maintain a close working relationship with other divisions/departments within the SFC and other regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
- Qualification to practise as a solicitor, with extensive post-qualification experience (at least 15 years) in legal practice or related regulatory/government bodies.
- Substantial experience of running high level securities-related civil and criminal litigation in Hong Kong.
- In-depth knowledge of the operation of the local financial markets and financial industry.
- Excellent conceptual, analytical, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Proven resources management, people development and leadership skills.
- A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Proficiency in Chinese language would be an advantage.
