We are seeking a talented and motivated Analyst/Data Scientist to join our Data Analytics Group (DAG), a team of data professionals leveraging data science to support the mission of the Securities and Futures Commission. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, with a focus on both supporting and enhancing existing initiatives, as well as exploring new avenues for research and development.
DAG serves as an interface between all divisions of the Securities and Futures Commission, playing a pivotal role in driving informed decision-making and strategic initiatives. DAG harnesses the power of data to uncover valuable insights and drive actionable recommendations. By collaborating closely with the various divisions, we ensure that our analyses and findings align with the diverse needs and objectives of the Commission. Through our comprehensive approach, we empower the SFC to make data-driven decisions and stay ahead of the curve.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics Group, you will work independently to carry out the following responsibilities, including:
- Assist with the design and implementation of production level data science solutions using Python.
- Apply machine learning techniques in the analysis of regulatory data, including data extraction, cleansing, feature engineering, model tuning and result visualization.
- Support and enhance existing data science solutions.
- Collaborate with divisional users in formulating the application of machine learning and other data science techniques for the analysis of regulatory data.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, the candidate should:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
- 1-2 years’ experience as a data analyst or data scientist
- Proficient in Python programming. SAS a is a plus.
- Hands-on with visualisation tools such as Power BI or/and Tableau or any other tools.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Be self-motivated and result oriented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
