This is a senior level position reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. As the head of the Mainland Affairs Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic roadmap for Hong Kong’s position as a premier international financial centre intermediating capital flows between the Chinese Mainland and global markets.
You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Committee and Board on development strategy and mutual market access schemes. You will be expected to provide advice to the Executive Directors on cooperative initiatives and negotiations with authorities on the Chinese Mainland and to assist divisions in implementing these initiatives and progressing negotiations. As part of your role, you will be engaging extensively, at senior levels of the CSRC and other authorities on the Chinese Mainland on matters which relate to strategic and operational priorities of the SFC.
Internally, you will lead a team of high-calibre professionals to provide senior management with deep insights, intelligence and research on financial market developments. You will be the central coordinator for cross-divisional projects pertaining to the Chinese Mainland, including those led by the Government of the HKSAR.
Requirements:
To qualify for this distinguished role, you should possess a university degree and/or professional qualification, preferably in Accounting, Law, Finance or Business. A proven track record of at least 20 years of relevant working experience in sizeable organisations. You should have extensive experience of working on the Chinese Mainland and in particular with regulatory bodies and financial institutions. You should have a thorough understanding of the Hong Kong securities market, its regulatory framework, as well as deep insights into the regulatory developments in the Chinese Mainland. You should possess an exceptional ability to navigate complex technical and diplomatic discussions within the Commission and with external parties at a senior level. With a strong sense of responsibility, you must be a relationship builder who is forward-looking, proactive in managing changes, and possesses impeccable integrity. The successful candidate is expected to exhibit strong leadership skills and team spirit, with proven ability to adapt to the fast-moving landscape of the international financial markets while advancing the SFC’s mission in a cross-border context.
You are expected to have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
