Dr Kelvin Wong was appointed the Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) by the HKSAR Chief Executive, effective 20 October 2024.
Dr Wong is currently the Chairman of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, the Chairman of the Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and a member of its Advisory Committee on Corruption.
Prior to joining the SFC, Dr Wong was an Executive Director and a Deputy Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited, a company listed in Hong Kong. He was also a Non-Executive Director of the SFC, the Chairman of the Investor and Financial Education Council, the Chairman of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors, a member of the Main Board and GEM Listing Committees of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform and a member of the Operations Review Committee of the ICAC. He was an Independent Non-Executive Director of companies listed in Hong Kong and/or Mainland China.
Dr Wong obtained his Master of Business Administration degree from Andrews University in Michigan, the USA, in 1992 and his Doctor of Business Administration degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2007.
Dr Wong was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2013 and awarded Silver Bauhinia Star in 2021 by the HKSAR Government.
