Assistant Counsel (Litigation) - Legal Services

We are looking to recruit a confident litigator to join us as Assistant Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity to join the statutory body which regulates and promotes the development of the securities and futures markets in Hong Kong.

Reporting to Senior Counsel in the Legal Services Division, the role provides a challenging and interesting opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of financial regulatory work.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for advising on the strength of evidence, preparing cases for hearings including trials in the High Court, hearings before the Market Misconduct Tribunal and handling any subsequent appeals.

You will also appear in the Magistrates’ Court to prosecute offences and act as instructing solicitor for trials and appeals. Training will be given to candidates without prior experience of criminal litigation.

Requirements:

You should have a good academic record and be a Hong Kong-qualified solicitor with experience of handling High Court commercial litigation.

You must have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex issues and give practical, well reasoned and researched written legal advice. Knowledge of the structure and operation of the Hong Kong securities and futures industry and markets would be an advantage. An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese is essential.
