This is an excellent opportunity for a high calibre candidate to join the Fintech unit of the SFC and contribute to shaping the responsible and sustainable development of the virtual asset industry and wider fintech industry in Hong Kong.
Reporting to an Associate Director or a Senior Manager, you will be part of a team formulating policies regarding the regulation of virtual asset-related activities and application of fintech to the Hong Kong financial markets. The team will also handle licensing applications including applications from virtual asset trading platforms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Keeping abreast of market developments and international regulatory developments in all fintech matters to identify market-wide, industry and firm-specific regulatory issues;
- Assisting in the formulation of corresponding policies for the virtual asset and wider fintech industry; and
- Handling and processing corporate and individual licensing applications including applications from virtual asset trading platforms.
Requirements:
- A university degree in law, accounting, finance or economics;
- Knowledge of the operations of financial markets and regulation of licensed intermediaries as well as a curiosity in and an aptitude to learn new technologies;
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience in the financial services or related industries;
- Exposure gained in regulatory bodies, major law or audit firms, international investment banks or asset managers is preferable;
- Knowledge of fintech and virtual assets will be an advantage;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills;
- Good writing and presentation skills; and
- A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity.
