Director (Litigation) - Legal Services

Reporting to the Executive Director - Legal Services, the candidate will be required to discharge the responsibilities and meet the requirements set out below:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage a portfolio of criminal and civil proceedings to ensure consistency and maintenance of high standards across different teams; and
  • To undertake cases personally as and when assigned and manage his or her own caseload.

You are expected to participate in high level strategic decision-making in major policy issues and decisions affecting the Legal Services Division. You will also be expected to maintain a close working relationship with other divisions / departments within the SFC and other regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Qualification to practise as a solicitor in Hong Kong, with extensive post-qualification experience (at least 15 years) in legal practice or related regulatory / government bodies;
  • Substantial experience of running high level securities-related civil and criminal litigation in Hong Kong;
  • In-depth knowledge of the operation of the local financial markets and financial industry;
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, communication and presentation skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage a team of lawyers and support staff;
  • A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Proficiency in Chinese language would be an advantage
