The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is seeking a seasoned senior executive to serve as Chief Data Officer (CDO). The CDO will lead the Commission’s data governance, data quality, and enterprise data strategy, ensuring data is leveraged as a core strategic asset. The role will drive analytical solutions that strengthen regulatory risk detection and support operational excellence. The CDO will also lead the development of data architecture and foster a strong data culture across the organisation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The CDO will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing a comprehensive data governance strategy and data architecture aligned with the SFC’s strategic priorities.
- Managing data frameworks to enhance data accuracy, reliability, and consistency across all divisions.
- Partnering with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to translate operational needs into actionable data initiatives.
- Promoting data literacy and adoption of data-driven practices across the organisation.
- Overseeing the implementation of advanced technologies, including machine learning and AI.
- Conducting ongoing research to stay abreast of data analytics advancements and their regulatory applications.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Relevant degree in related fields; and postgraduate qualifications will be an advantage with at least 8 years of working experience preferably in banking or securities sector.
- Deep knowledge of data related architecture, infrastructure, applications, security and the leveraging of data for the purposes of analytics and further application to emerging technologies such as AI.
- Proven delivery track record in complex technology environments and leading data projects.
- Strong strategic vision paired with a pragmatic technology implementation approach coupled with a good awareness of risk management/mitigation.
- Excellent relationship-building skills to influence across divisional leadership.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities for managing transformation.
