Manager - Secretariat and External, CEO's Office & Central Services

Duties and responsibilities:

The Secretariat and External department within the CEO’s Office of the SFC supports the Board and senior management in dealing with a wide variety of SFC-related policies and initiatives. It also strategises Commission-level stakeholder engagement plans to better engage and communicate with external parties (including the HKSAR Government, regulatory counterparts, legislators, industry participants and the public) on the SFC’s policies and other important messages.

We are now seeking a strong communications professional for the role of Manager to support the SFC’s external communications and editorial work, in order to enhance stakeholders’ understanding of the SFC’s initiatives. 

This position is ideal for candidates with strong editorial experience, mastery of bilingual writing skills, and a solid understanding of financial markets, which are essential in advancing the SFC’s external communications strategy as a globally respected regulator.

Reporting to a Senior Manager, this role will primarily:

  • Draft and edit thought leadership piecesspeeches, articles and other materials — for senior executives to expound the SFC’s policy stance and market development strategies.
  • Provide bilingual editorial support for various publicationsannual and quarterly reports, press releases, consultation papers, circulars, social media posts, etc — to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
  • Draft briefing notes, letters, emails, lines-to-take and other day-to-day communications, to engage with stakeholders and enhance the SFC’s public image.
  • Foster long-term, constructive relationships with both external and internal stakeholders and develop effective engagement strategies in pursuit of the SFC’s objectives.

Requirements:

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • A university degree in communications or languages.
  • A minimum of six years’ experience in a writing/editorial role, or in a corporate communications role with a heavy focus on bilingual writing and editing.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage.
  • Solid knowledge of Hong Kong and global financial markets and regulatory frameworks; experience in the financial industry or the public sector is a major plus.
  • Experience in supporting the external engagement of senior executives.
  • Effective project management skills; well-organised and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team; strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
