Reporting to a Senior Manager, you will be part of a team to supervise intermediaries with a focus on their business conduct, financial and operational risks. An area of increasing importance for this role is the supervision of virtual asset related activities. The team also covers other FinTech areas, such as tokenization and generative AI.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor intermediaries’ business conduct, financial soundness, risk and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements on an ongoing basis;
- Identify and assess key risks and regulatory breaches by intermediaries, take swift actions and handle complaints against intermediaries;
- Evaluate and process regulatory submissions and new business proposal from intermediaries engaged in virtual asset related business;
- Assist in assessing virtual asset trading platform operators’ licensing applications as required
- Monitor and analyse local and global virtual asset industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g. DeFi, tokens, ecosystem), and assess their impact on market participants and regulation;
- Contribute to policy-oriented research and comparative studies on international virtual asset regulation, support the Commission’s participation in international policy development;
- Develop and maintain constructive work relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- University degree and / or professional qualification in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Law, IT, FRM or CPA;
- At least 8 years of solid and relevant work experience in top-tier virtual asset and/or global financial institutions;
- Experience in both sell side and buy side and multi-asset classes will be an advantage
- Exposure gained in regulatory bodies, major audit firms or virtual asset firms is preferable;
- Good knowledge of SFC regulation
- Deep understanding in blockchain technology, virtual asset ecosystem, DLT market developments, Web3 and Defi;
- Passionate about facilitating Hong Kong’s market development, shaping a sustainable innovative market;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese is required, and proficient Putonghua for business communication is a must;
- Be an assertive and an active team player with strong analytical, detailed oriented, strong research, versatile, fast-paced and be able to work independently and cope with pressure;
- A strong sense of responsibility and impeccable integrity is essential.
