Mr Chew is a Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Before his retirement in October 2023, Mr Chew was Deputy Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Lai Sun Garment (International) Limited, Lai Sun Development Company Limited and Lai Fung Holdings Limited. He is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Karex Berhad.
Mr Chew has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing and finance in the UK and Hong Kong. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, he is a certified public accountant and a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and The Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
Mr Chew is a member of the Hong Kong Judiciary Barristers Disciplinary Tribunal Panel and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited. He is also a member of the Council of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Board of Directors of The Asian Youth Orchestra.
Previously, Mr Chew was a member of the SFC’s Advisory Committee, a council member of the HKICPA and its Vice President, a council member of the Financial Reporting Council1 and a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform of the Companies Registry. Mr Chew was also a member of the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations, Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee and Operations Review Committee.
Mr Chew sits on the SFC’s Remuneration Committee and the SFC (HKEC Listing) Appeals Committee.
