Dr Lin is a Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Currently he is a Senior Partner of Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP. Qualified to practise law in Hong Kong and New York, Dr Lin has extensive experience in equity and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital. He has over 20 years of experience advising on some of the largest and most complex transactions including on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, the Nasdaq Global Market and the New York Stock Exchange.

Dr Lin has held a number of advisory and public roles. He currently serves on Disciplinary Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Process Review Panel for the Insurance Authority and the Process Review Panel for the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority. He is also a Director of the Hong Kong Investment Corporation. He previously served as a member of the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal and the Appeal Panel (Housing).

Dr Lin attained his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and A.B. degree from Harvard University. He received his M.Phil and D.Phil degrees in International Relations from the University of Oxford. Dr Lin is an Overseer of Morningside College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Trustee of the Asia Society Hong Kong Center.

Dr Lin is also a Visiting Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School where he teaches a course on "Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital and Law in China" and serves on the Dean's Asia Leadership Council.

Dr Lin is the Chairman of the Investor Compensation Company Limited and the Deputy Chairman of the SFC's Audit Committee, Budget Committee, Investment Committee and Remuneration Committee. He also sits on the SFC (HKEC Listing) Appeals Committee, Investor Compensation Fund Committee and Securities Compensation Fund Committee.
