Mr Kong is a Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Future Commission (SFC). He is Managing Director of BDO Limited in Hong Kong.
Educated and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touché Ross in England, Mr Kong has over 35 years of professional accounting experience.
Mr Kong is a Fellow Member (Practising) of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, CPA Australia and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute, and a member of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance. Previously, Mr Kong was President of HKICPA and Chair of its Qualification Oversight Board, Professional Conduct Committee, Nomination Committee, Ethics Committee and Small and Medium Practices Committee, and the inaugural Chairman of its Restructuring and Insolvency Faculty. He was also President of the Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians. Mr Kong is presently a Council member of the Association of Hong Kong Accounting Advisors and an Alternate Director of the Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors.
Mr Kong has been active in public service. He is currently an Accounting Advisor (Hong Kong) appointed by the Ministry of Finance, People’s Republic of China and an Election Committee Member of the HKSAR Government. He is also a member of the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s Operations Review Committee, the Panel of the Witness Protection Review Board and Hong Kong University's Audit Committee.
Previously, Mr Kong served as a member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform, Advisory Group on Modernisation of Corporate Insolvency Law, Appeal Panel (Housing), Board of Review Panel (Inland Revenue) and Appeal Board Panel (Town Planning).
Representing Hong Kong in the international arena, Mr Kong currently chairs the International Federation of Accountants’ Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Business Support Task Force and is also Deputy Chair of its SMP Advisory Group. He was an Executive Board Member of INSOL.
Mr Kong is a member of the SFC's Remuneration Committee and the SFC (HKEC Listing) Appeals Committee.
